God’s grace & mercy + therapy

Updated: May 2, 2020

Self-care does NOT always include cupcakes, trips to the nail salon and/or spa.

The way self-care is portrayed today is completely reactive and utterly backward. I argue that self-care is proactive & sustainable work, including effective therapy, financial planning, home cooked meals, family dinners, hydration, proper sleep/rest, letting go of toxic mindsets & praying, etc. It’s also forgiving yourself for NOT meeting impossible self-imposed standards and understanding that you are still valuable & worthy. ALWAYS!

Self-care is NOT always an indulgence rather it is proactive, disciplined, (inconvenient at times) work!

In whatever area that disciplined work may be an issue remember God promises: “Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12: 8-9 NLT)
